Logo Competition for Naptown People’s Radio!

Deadline: Friday, November 13 at 11:59 pm

Since our introductory episode in early June 2025, Naptown People’s Radio has been building a reputation as Indy’s go-to podcast for objective but unapologetically partisan news and analysis, examining the issues shaping the lives of oppressed and exploited people–from the neighborhoods of Indianapolis to the struggles across the country and around the world. Each week, we highlight the voices of the working-class, everyday people that other media won’t touch or platform. From subjects like police violence, mass incarceration, the fight for housing and economic justice, labor movements, to the worldwide fight against imperialism, we connect the local to the global, revealing the common interests and material conditions that unite working people everywhere.

Naptown People’s Radio emerged as a collective collaboration from organizers involved in each and every struggle we cover: we don’t just report the news; we make it happen. From Indianapolis neighborhoods to national movements to international struggles for liberation, we’re not content simply documenting history as it unfolds. We’re organizing to change it. And we believe artists (by which we mean anyone who does or wants to consider themselves an artist) have an essential role to play in that struggle!

As we approach the conclusion of our second season and celebrate our 70th episode, we want to give our listeners and supporters the opportunity to help shape the next chapter of Naptown People’s Radio.

So, we’re holding a comradely competition to design our official podcast logo!

What We’re Looking For

We want a logo that captures the spirit of NPR: independent, working-class journalism rooted in Indianapolis and connected to the struggles for justice and liberation everywhere.

We encourage designs that:

  • Celebrate working-class power and solidarity
  • Connect the local to the global – represent Indy roots while recognizing our solidarity with working people around the world
  • Capture the power of people’s media. Consider themes of communication, independent journalism, and the amplification of voices that are too often silenced.
  • Embrace creativity and originality. Think bold! Think imaginative!
  • Remain recognizable and versatile. The winning design should work across podcast platforms, social media, printed materials, merchandise, and other promotional uses.

These are simply guiding ideas, not rigid requirements. We want our listeners to interpret the mission of Naptown People’s Radio through their own creative vision.

All artwork must be made by fellow humans (possibly in collaboration with other living species). Generative artificial “intelligence” is not permitted nor would we be interested in it. We want this to be an opportunity to celebrate the imagination and abilities of artists themselves.

Who Can Participate and How?

The competition is open to everyone, everywhere! You don’t need to live in Indianapolis or have professional design experience to participate.

Submission requirements:

  • Logos must be submitted as a PNG and JPG file
  • Dimensions must measure 2500 x 2500 pixels
  • Each file cannot exceed 5000kb
  • Generative AI artwork is not accepted (or respected)

To submit, fill out this form and follow the instructions at the end. Be sure to finish your submission by Friday, November 13 at 11:59 pm. We can’t wait to see what our people create!
